We Are Kalypso Wellness Centers
Inflammatory pain will affect everyone sooner or later. Whether through a twisted ankle, sprained knee, sore shoulder, having an infection, or even just getting scraped on the skin, everyone deals with inflammatory pain. Most commonly, chronic inflammatory pain is known as arthritis, the slow degeneration of joints throughout the body. There are many types of chronic inflammatory pain including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and auto immune diseases.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has many facts about inflammatory pain:
- Over 50 million Americans deal with diagnosed arthritis
- Women are more likely to suffer from arthritis than men, with everyone more likely to suffer from arthritis as they get older
- 40% of people with arthritis report it is “very difficult” or they “cannot do” at least 1 of 9 daily activities such as bending, kneeling, or sitting
- Obesity greatly increases the chance of suffering from arthritis
- Chronic inflammatory pain can limit physical activity, therefore increasing probability of heart disease and diabetes
It’s easy to see how chronic inflammation can affect anyone at some point in their life. Fortunately, there are also many inflammation treatments and anti-inflammatory medicines. For short acting inflammation, there is a good catch phrase to remember: RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation): These inflammation treatments will help minimize swelling and consequently painIn addition to this anti-inflammatory treatment, it’s possible to also take medicines such as NSAIDs or Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs. This class of medicine includes household names like ibuprofen (Advil), Naproxen, and Acetaminophen (Tylenol). But be careful, and consult your doctor before taking NSAIDS. Between RICE and NSAIDs, many people can get through short term inflammation and pain. If these inflammation treatments are not enough, there are other options. Most importantly, living a healthy life style and maintaining proper weight will help minimize inflammation and pain. Many foods, vitamins, and herbs can help with anti-inflammatory treatments as well.
If inflammation continues despite all of these options, it’s time to see your doctor to discuss more advanced options including prescription medicines, steroids, and/or interventions. One of the best inflammation treatments available is an infusion of a medicine called ketamine.
Ketamine has many uses and benefits. Not only does it help with nerve pain, migraine pain, and depression, it also is a very powerful inflammation treatment. As it is such a powerful medicine, only properly trained physicians should use ketamine in a controlled environment. The physicians that have been using ketamine for more than 50 years are anesthesiologists, and they specialize in the use of ketamine.
Kalypso Wellness Centers is founded by four anesthesiologists, experts in the use of ketamine. While very few doctors use ketamine due to lack of training and experience, the doctors at Kalypso Wellness Centers have over 40 years of experience with ketamine and chronic pain.
