Ketamine is well known drug that has been used as an anesthetic for over 50 years, is used in operating rooms around the world, and is viewed by World Health Organization as core medicine in healthcare. The FDA has approved it as an anesthetic, and anesthesiologists use it routinely for this purpose. While low dose ketamine has not been FDA approved for the treatment of Chronic Pain, Depression, Anxiety, Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (nerve pain), Inflammatory Pain, Fibromyalgia, Bipolar Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); and other diseases, researchers for the last 15 years have shown that sub-clinical doses can rapidly relieve symptoms when given as IV infusions. Studies confirming benefits have been done at Yale University, the National Institute of Health, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins, and others. Our physicians customize treatment plans for each patient and have accentuated this by creating RESET Ketamine Therapy™, which includes five distinct proprietary ketamine formulations: KalyCalm™, KalyCan™, KalyMax™, KalyPro™ and KalyZen™.
Ketamine inhibits NMDA receptors in the body. These receptors are responsible for central sensitization. Ketamine infusions work in a completely different way from any medication you may have tried before. Narcotics, anxiolytics, and anti-depression medication all work by trying to “block” certain pathways, but do not actually work to improve the problem. Ketamine essentially “re-sets” neural pathways and triggers a rapid growth of neural connections. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory agent which helps many patients as well. While research is ongoing, and more precise mechanisms may be identified for this off-label use, the data to date has shown up to 70% of patients receive relief of their symptoms after one infusion. Additionally, patients that undergo the recommended treatment of 4-6 infusions over a 2-3 week period receive 90-95% relief. In some cases, maintenance infusions may be needed every 3-6 months.
The clinical program at Kalypso Wellness is one of the few clinics to combine the precision of the anesthesia community with the diagnostic tools of mental health professionals. The combination of those two professions allows us to evaluate patients and determine how effective Ketamine treatment may be for you or your loved one.
As an FDA approved drug Ketamine infusion therapy is safe to use for both severe depression and chronic pain. How are we different?
Our four board-certified anesthesiologists opened our doors in 2016 and in that time have administered over 2,800 infusions with a success rate that surpasses this industry average. In fact, 87% of our patients experience relief with 54% fewer adverse reactions than the national average. This makes us the leading administrators of ketamine therapy in our field.
Our numbers speak for themselves:
- Success rate: 87% (National average is between 60% to 70%)
- Adverse reaction rate: 6.3% (National average is between 50% – 60%)
This experience has allowed us to not only customize the type of therapy for each patient but also to treat 31 different disease states, from depression and migraines to the pain associated with cancer.
Formulations customized just for you
The team at Kalypso Wellness has developed five proprietary formulations tailored to the individual’s needs. This means your dosage is tailored to each patient depending on the severity of their condition on treatment day. These infusions can provide a substantial improvement in the quality of life for patients with Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Fibromyalgia, Neuropathic Pain, Inflammatory Pain, Chronic Pain, and Migraines/Chronic Headaches.
These benefits, coupled with the current opioid epidemic in America, drove these four Board Certified anesthesiologists to form Kalypso Wellness Centers to reduce narcotic consumption and end suffering for their patients.
Increased efficacy means a decrease in side effects, and customized formulations mean:
- Less pain
- More hopeful feelings
- Increased calmness
- Reduced depression
- Improved relationships
